- The Pointe au Baril Lions Club:
The Pointe au Baril Lions Club was Chartered on November 28th, 1981, by the sponsoring club of Parry Sound. The membership was strong with 36 members. Back then it was considered a male’s club.
Then in 1997 they since allowed ladies to join the club. They gave some new perspectives in lions and play a vital role in the club.
These dedicated lions came from the Pointe au Baril area, Carling and Parry Sound area that are involved in businesses, or retired. They all wanted to give back to their community.
The funds they raise go into a lot of community and district projects. They also go for Humanitarian and Social Services. That is why Lions Club International is one of the biggest service organizations in the world.
We the Pointe au Baril Lions also assisted with our name, as a service club, in obtaining government grants for community projects such as the playground at the community centre. Without a service club, a Trillium grant could not be obtained.
The following is a list of our contributions to the village and area.

Effective Speaking Contest
Peace Poster Contest
Environment: Help clean up Sturgeon Bay & Donation
Pick up garbage on local roads with township.
Camp Dorset: For Children & Adults on Dialysis.
C.N.I.B Camp: Lake Joseph Camp for the blind.
Camp for the Deaf: Just south of Parry Sound.
Camp Huronda: Sponsored a local Child to go to the Diabetes Camp
These are just a few of the projects and activities that we have sponsored. As you can see, the Pointe au Baril Lions Club is very important to our Community. That is why the Lion’s motto is “We Serve.”
