Welcome to the Pointe au Baril Information Centre. For your information, our phone (705) 366-2331 has been temporarily disconnected - this is just for the winter months. This Information Centre is closed now until May, when our phones will be re-connected, with the same phone #. We are trying to save some funds. We had hoped that the message Bell Canada put on our phones would say "temporarily" disconnected, and this is what we requested but unfortunately it just says it has been disconnected. So, please do not fret if you call and get that message. And, feel free to e-mail us as we are checking messages over the winter on a regular basis. We are on the shores of the beautiful, magnificent Georgian Bay with sparkling blue water with wind swept pines. We had an eventful summer season.
Our 2nd Annual Arts and Crafts Fairl was held during our Canada Day Celebrations on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at the Pointe au Baril Community Centre. The weather put a bit of a damper on the festivities, but the numerous Arts and Crafts vendors exhibited a wide variety and selection of wonderful high caliber hand crafted items. There was also our Annual Delicious Pickerel Lunch that was enjoyed by hundreds as well as the Official Ceremonies and varied events throughout the day. The 2010 Celebrate Canada and 3rd Annual Arts and Crafts Fair is being held on Sunday, June 27 at the Pointe au Baril Community Centre so be sure to mark your Calendar! The Canada Day Celebrations will also include our delicious Pickerel Lunch. And, the fact that we changed the entire event into an all--day affair enabled so many more of you to enjoy the day's activities as a family. There will also be parades, presentations and terrific kids' activities. And, of course, the day will culminate with the Amazing Firework Display at Sundown. Our many, many thanks to all the Volunteers and Arts and Crafts vendors who helped make last year's event a time to remember. And a big thank you to the hundreds of visitors who attended all or part of the day. We could not have done it without you! As well, our new Visitor's Washroom, with Wheelchair Access, was installed in June of 2008 here at the Information Centre located on Hwy. 69. Our very sincerest thanks to those involved in the fundraising and construction of this fine, new, modern facility. It is a well kept, much appreciated addition to our Information Centre by our travelling visitors. For the avid fisherman/woman, enjoy the excitement of getting that prize Northern Pike, Bass, Walleye or Perch. We have many fishing camps and Bay resorts with everything you might need - from guides to fishing boats. And, there is so much more than fishing! Enjoy boating, hiking, riding the RV trails, site seeing and great eating. Fresh pine scented air and pure water to drink. In addition to the great Georgian Bay, we also have smaller lakes in the area. Moose Lake is just off Highway 69 and is a very special spot for those who like to canoe or row. Naiscoot Lake and River are easy to access and have superb boating and fishing. Harris Lake is another great recreational Lake that connects to the Magnetawan River System. A great place for long scenic rowing trips alone or with groups of outdoor enthusiasts. Our hospitality is second to none; we strive to make your trip to the area memorable for you and your family. For maps and information about this wonderful area, please contact our Information Centre and we will be happy to assist you. In June, we are open daily (Closed Thursdays) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then, July and August we are open daily, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm until Labour Day weekend. We are then open Friday to Monday until Thanksgiving week-end. The Information Centre and Chamber of Commerce is located on the east side of highway #69, just as you enter Pointe au Baril from the South. And, as you leave Pointe au Baril from the North. We look forward to seeing you here in the beautiful Pointe au Baril area of Georgian Bay.
